11/16: On The Reel

In this exciting edition of Inside The Mine we have plenty of love, hate and pigskin to go around…place your bets

Mansions On The Moon – “Desert Island
Finally some new music is on the way from these guys. With a Diplo & Benzi mixtape, an opening slot on a Wiz Khalifa tour and now a EP executively produced by Pharell, it seems as if success is imminent. This is the first track in a series that will lead up to the release of LightYears and you can stay up to date here.

Schoolboy Q – “My Hatin’ Joint”
I believe this is the second Schoolboy joint I have talked about in the last couple weeks, but when you making records this dope there is not much reason to check out anybody else. Release date for HABITS and Contradictions please…

Silky Johnson – “Ashes”I ain’t gonna front, I know very little about this dude. Silky Johnson according to his twitter is a producer from Battlefield Earth and he produced one of my favorite songs of the year, Main Attraktionz “Nothing Gonna Change”. Silky got a dope album called Hater Of The Year and he let loose his latest joint “Ashes” a few nights ago. Synthed-out bliss that can be enjoyed by those who just like good music without even knowing what “cloud rap” is.

Tanya Morgan – “We Rollin”
For some reason this track reminds me of a subtle version of Dr Dre’s “Bad Intentions”. Anyways, good to see a new project from Donwill and Von Pea is on the way. These two will make a hit song at some point..

Weekly Picks
3-1 last week, 9-6-1 for this column.

New York Jets at Denver Broncos (+4.5)
You know what will make Mark Sanchez look like a good quarterback? When the opposing quarterback is Tim Tebow. I hope both teams wear retro uniforms because this game will resemble the era when the forward pass was not an important part of the game. Pick: Jets

Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins (-1)
Buffalo is coming on strong to challenge for last place in the AFC East but since Miami is playing at home they will step up and show that they are the true bottom feeders of this division. Pick: Bills

San Diego Chargers at Chicago Bears (-3.5)
There is nothing “wrong” with the San Diego Chargers. This team has no where near the talent level they had a few years ago, especially on the defensive side of the ball and are pretty much playing up to their ability. Not a good thing when Matt Forte is running the ball like crazy and Jay Cuttlet looks like a winning quarterback. Pick: Bears

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants (-3)
The Giants are consistently inconsistent. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants beat an undefeated Packers team on December 4th and at the same time I can see the Giants losing by 20 this week. Pick: Eagles
