2012 CMJ Music Marathon

I was so focused yesterday on the Presidential Debate, I forgot to put you on to the city’s most exciting event for upcoming and independent artists. The CMJ 2012 Music Marathon takes place this week from October 16-20 and is packed with panels led by record label execs, music producers and radio station directors of sorts, live music events from HUNDREDS of artists your favorite indie Pandora station has never even heard of and access to movers and shakers in this industry you’ve been Twitter stalking for the past year.

Sounds awesome right? Well…the catch. Although the conference started yesterday, you can still do a walk-up registration and pick up an all access badge to the discussion panels and events, for a fee of $325 for students and $549 for professionals. Couldn’t have thought all this dopeness would be free, did you? But if you can spare the bills and really want to take advantage of this great opportunity, I strongly urge you to attend.

But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. On Saturday, you can attend a FREE show (I see the light!) with Chromeo & ?uestlove at Tribeca Grand Hotel starting at 10PM sharp. Bring business cards because with Professor Questove on the mic you never know who will be in the building. Just be sure to RSVP.
