Brooklynites In London

Residents all over the borough should have an Olympics app downloaded on their smart phone or have their TV programmed to DVR all of the coverage of the The Summer Games (including fencing).  Sure, the Olympics is fun to watch your country compete in some of the most exciting sports you only see televised once every four years (did you see the canoe slalom events??), but it’s even more fun to cheer on when the U.S. Olympians are from your hometown.  Brooklynites are raised to be some tough cookies, so it’s no surprise when we witnessed Fort Greene resident and U.S. swimmer Lia Neal win her first Olympic medal with her 4×100 relay team.  Celeb NY’ers wre so proud of the 17-year-old, they shared their support via Twitter, some wearing her Olympic-inspired “Swim Brooklyn”.  She’s not the only in London repping for her borough. Here’s a list of other BK-bred athletes competing to bring home a medal back to their city.
