As of recent, I’ve really been digging the underground music scene. Recent meaning over the past year. I like to hear music from artists that you don’t hear from on the radio because a) not everyone on the radio has super talent and b) not every artist with super talent has a record deal with a major label giving them maximum air time. Which is why I thrive off of music showcases. It’s a great way to learn about rising stars and build your iTunes library with music you can’t even find on iTunes.
Last month, we featured a duo, A Love 4 Music, that hosts a monthly music showcase in Brooklyn. Their style of artists usually similar to the likes of Jesse Boykins III and Janelle Monae, with a live band and two finger snaps at the end of each performance (that cool kinda vibe). But this month they’re bringing out the turntables and spraying Lysol on the mic because there’s gonna be a whole lot of bars spitting at their “Brooklyn Cypher: A Celebration of Hip-Hop, featuring NYC’s emerging MCs.” It takes place Thursday, August 30th at 7p.m. at Nicholas Brooklyn with DJ B.A.U.S spinning for Ronve’, D-Most, Sciryl, Yahiness, Rufat of Skyway, JoeyBM, Nyce Franklin and Steeve Sam.
AL4M is a full service talent development agency that serves as a networking resource for signed and unsigned artists, as well as music supporters. You can read more about them in my interview posted last month here on Inside The Mine, and follow them on Twitter @ALove4MusicNYC. For a rundown of the event details, read below:
